奥拉朱旺无所不能，他不仅在篮下独当一面，在禁区外的跳投同样准确无误，而且带球渗透的技巧和速度又和前锋队员一样灵敏而迅速。当然他最拿手的还是他和对手“单挑”时惯用的“大梦摆动”脱身术，而且屡试不爽。面对强敌，奥拉朱旺先是带球左右晃来晃去，然后以一只脚的脚尖为轴心，猛地一转身，便轻而易举甩掉对手，上篮得分。

由于奥拉朱旺绰号“大梦”，故而这一招被命名为“大梦摆动”。奥拉朱旺就是靠这一看家绝活率火箭队拿了两次总冠军。这主要是因为他具备组织后卫般出色的控球技巧，不仅胯下运球速度快，摆脱对手的时机也掌握得恰到好处。此外，奥拉朱旺以一只脚为轴心转体时的身体平衡能力也相当出色，从未发生过因重心不稳而球被对手断掉的失误。
