N; d I) j$ z9 M2008年斯诺克英锦赛的一场比赛曾因涉嫌赌球被调查，不过，苏格兰皇室律师今日表示因找不到充足的证据而决定放弃对两位当事人马奎尔和伯内特的起诉。不过，世界职业台球协会表示他们将对此展开独立调查。
; J8 T K5 O% {& u3 ?- T2008年12月15日，马奎尔与伯内特在英锦赛相遇，结果马奎尔以9-3轻取对手。在第12局的比赛中，伯内特错失最后一颗黑球，原本有望将比分扳成4-8，结果却以3-9输掉了比赛。赛后，两位球员都表示没有做任何不道德的事情，并且会全力配合调查。
